The best beaches of Tuscany come not just from the region's mainland coastline, but also from the beautiful group of islands known as the Arcipelago Toscano (Tuscan Archipelago).
Opinions on which beaches are the best are always divided to some degree but there's no doubt that in Tuscany, some of the most serious contenders can be found among the islands. Tiny Giglio for example has two of the most outstanding beaches in Italy with Cala delle Caldane and Cala delle Cannelle. The largest island in the archipelago is Elba with more than 80 beaches and it can boast the likes of Cavoli, Biodola and Sansone to name just a few. |
