The finest parks and nature reserves of Tuscany provide a variety of landscapes and opportunities to discover the region in greater depth. There are three of Italy's national parks in Tuscany as well as a handful of regional parks with a diverse flora and fauna.
Straddling the border between Tuscany and the neighbouring region of Emilia Romagna, the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park was established in 2001 and covers a vast area of 228 km². The Tuscan Archipelago National Park meanwhile is a group of seven islands which include the likes of Elba, Giglio and Pianosa. |
