Buses in Elba
Latest page update: 18 September 2024
If you're not planning on driving a car, then the buses in Elba are a good way to get around.
There are three main bus routes on the island, the 116, 117 and 118, which will allow you to get pretty much anywhere on the island you might wish to go. Ticket prices are cheap and for the most part the service provided is efficient. The main route is the 116 which originates in Portoferraio and covers the western half of the island. From Portoferraio, it heads west in an anti-clockwise direction towards Procchio, continuing on to the beach resorts of Cavoli, Seccheto, Fetovaia and Pomonte. |

The 117 covers the eastern half of the island, running from Portoferraio to Capoliveri, Porto Azzurro, Rio Marina, Rio nell'Elba and Cavo, among other stops. The shortest route is the 118 which runs from Portoferraio, south to Lacona with notable stops at San Giovanni and Bagnaia.
A network of urban buses is also in operation around Portoferraio, mainly used for locals to reach residential locations. Between June and September there are further buses in operation all around the island, which allow easier access to the island's beaches.
