The island of Gorgona is situated in the Tyrrhenian Sea, forming part of the Tuscan Archipelago in Tuscany.

It is administered by the Province of Livorno. Gorgona is renowned for its penal colony, which houses a small population of inmates.

The island is famous for its rugged landscapes, pristine beaches, and rich biodiversity. Gorgona offers eco-tourism, including hiking trails, birdwatching, and marine conservation activities.
