The airport that serves Tuscany's capital has various names including Florence Peretola, Amerigo Vespucci Airport, or perhaps more simply, Florence Airport.
Despite being the regional capital's airport, it isn't the busiest in the region, that accolade belongs to Pisa Airport which has a greater number of flights, passengers and airlines serving it. |

Low-cost airline Vueling are the main operator of flights in and out of Florence Airport with a range of western European destinations served including London (Gatwick), Barcelona, Amsterdam and Tel Aviv. UK travellers can also fly to Florence directly from London City Airport, Manchester, Edinburgh or London Luton.
The airport is situated eight kilometres outside Florence and conveniently connected to the centre by the city's tram system; the journey time from the airport to Unità (the station outside Santa Maria Novella) is 23 minutes.
Florence is very well-connected in terms of motorways; you can easily reach the other provincial capitals of the region such as Lucca (1 hr 6 mins), Siena (1 hr 7 mins) or Arezzo (1 hr 10 minutes).
If you're unable to fly to Pisa it's a 1 hour 9 minute journey by car while the port of Livorno is around an hour and 25 minutes. The coastal area of Versilia is just over an hour with the main destinations there being Viareggio, Pietrasanta, Lido di Camaiore and Forte dei Marmi.
