Standing at a height of 88 metres, the Torre del Mangia in Siena is the tallest structure in the city. Its 400 internal steps lead to a viewing area from which you can get fantastic views of the city.
The tower protrudes from the Palazzo Pubblico, the main building on Piazza del Campo. It takes its name (translating as Tower of the Eater) from its first bellringer who was known as a glutton. |
