Piazza del Duomo Florence
Latest page update: 18 September 2024
The Piazza del Duomo in Florence is a square that boasts a quite magnificent collection of monuments. Dominating the cramped landscape of the Piazza is Florence Cathedral with its beautiful marble facade and flanked by the 85 metre tall Giotto's Bell Tower.
From that height you get a great view of the Piazza and its other most famous building: the Florence Baptistery. |

For those that can stomach it, there's an even higher vantage point from which to enjoy the Piazza and indeed the fantastic panoramas of Florence city centre: at the top of the Cathedral is the ingenious Brunelleschi's Dome with its narrow balcony terrace. Behind the Duomo you can gain access to the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo: a museum displaying historical treasures from the Cathedral.
